im trying to change my boot screen but im having trouble finding any good images that are 256 bit/color. Does anyone have any? pics of firefox or ps2 logo/xbox logo. also, is there any way to change to shutdown screen as well?

1stImpression makes the process painless, and comes with a few pix of its own.

Otherwise, you'd be replacing logo.sys etc - some info here

Tried searching Google Images?

If you get people asking the wrong questions, you don't have to worry about the answers

You will have problems find 256 bit/color as no such things exists.

You can have 256 colors which is 8 bits. 32 bit color is the maximum which gives you millions of colors.
