I was tired of the password requirement on my computer. I went to control panel, passwords and unchecked the box requiring a password. When I accepted those changes, it still said I needed a password that would be stored. I chose a 2 alpha initials. I rebooted my system and when it opened it said that the password was wrong. I chose ok and the computer logged on. But...it is as a new user. None of my files are accessible as this new user. When you open programs they tell you this is the first time they have been used. I need to restore my desktop to the one we were using and have access to all of my files. We have accounting software for a home business, so it is extremely important. What do I do?

If you can log in as an Administrator, do so. Go to User Accounts and Passwords in the Control panel.

Change the user acount you assigned two intials to to a new password.

If I'm not mistaken, the default is three characters long and this may be the reason you're having trouble.

There is a box to check to take that requirement away also.
