How can I change an icon on the desktop? I created a folder containg maintenance programs to releive some cluitter and would like the icon be something besides a "folder"

Not sure, but I don't think you can change a folder icon...It don't have that option in properties...I have 3 of them on my desktop..Maybe someone can come along with help...

hi.....theres a few basic ones on windows but if you type, desktop icons into google
you should find loads to download

then on the folder you want to change.
right mouse click >properties >change icon >browse> double click on the icon once youve found the folder its in and then >ok > apply >ok

I found a way to do it. I created a folder on C: drive, put what I wanted into it. I then right-clicked on IT and created a shortcut. I then moved the shortcut to the desktop. Now I can go to properties and change the icon.

thanks bill...i forgot about that bit....lol

i should have added this bit first...doh!!!
cut and paste your folders into the " my documents " folder first and then open it and right click and "send to desktop" ( create short cut) on the folders that you want to chnge icons .
