i know this aint really the right place to be asking, but i couldnt find any better forum, and i am using win98 r2 after all

i have a chaintech 6ata2 motherboard, and im using (erm, trying to use) 512 megs ram. this is in 2x256 meg ram chips. the problem is, you guessed it, they register as 128 meg chips, so i get 256 megs total instead of 256 each. i have been to the chaintech and updated the bios to the current version, which does support up to 768 megs ram (256x3). but it still doesnt work :( does anyone know whats causing this? i have a 3/500 running 98 r2, using sdram, any other details needed, ill be happy to provide them. thanks :)

Run msconfig and go to the General tab/Advanced. Make sure the 'Limit Memory' is not selected.

Are both ram sticks the same fsb{e.g. 100mhz or133mhz.} PC133mhz will usually run on 100mzh systems but not true the other way.
If so, try running the 133mhz chip in first block.
