Hi everyone,

Certain links in Internet Explorer 6 open and then close as soon as they open.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Hyperlinks don't work

First, try setting IE5 as your default browser. Go to IE tools/internet options/programs and
turn on the check box for IE to check if it is the default browser. Shut down and restart IE.
When it asks to be default browser, say yes.

Go to my computer, view/folder options/file types (or control panel, folder options depending on
your operating system.

Scroll down to the URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocols, click edit twice and make sure the
following is in the application used to perform action box:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome

The same applies for URL:Gopher

DDE should be set to: "%1",,-1,0,,,,
Application should say: IExplore
DDE application not running should be blank
Topic should be: WWW_OpenURL

Make Hyperlink Open New Page from an Email link .

You have a web page open that you're checking out. An e-mail comes in and you decide to switch
to your e-mail program. As you check out the new e-mail, you see a friend has sent you a link to
a cool web page. So, you click the link and it loads in place of the page you were originally
looking at. You catch yourself yelling, "Hey, stop! I was lookin' at that!"

Sure, you can always hit your Back button to go back to your original page, but wouldn't it be
nicer if the e-mail link would just open up in a new window?

Good news- it can with just a couple of clicks of your mouse!

1. Open up IE and select the Tools menu, Internet Options.

2. Under the Advanced tab, look for the Browsing section. Now, look for a check box labeled
"Reuse windows for launching shortcuts". Uncheck and you're all set

If you're using a pre 5.0 version of IE, you're looking to check (not uncheck) a checkbox
labeled "Launch Browser windows in a seperate process".

------------

Upgraded IE & you have problems .

Microsoft provides a patch to rectify the problem:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/Patch/1.0/WIN98/EN-US/mcrepair.EXE

When you run this executable, when it prompts you whether you wish to overwrite Newer files,
make sure to click YES for each file (do not select "No" or "No to All").

I checked all that stuff out and none of it worked. Certain links I click in IE6 just open for a quick second and then close. Well if anyone can give me some more advice I would really appreciate it. Thank you Johnw!
