I have a HP Pavilion Celeron 566 Mhz processor with 256 MB RAM, 15 GB HD and Windows 2000 Professional. It's very slow and clunky, is there anything I can do to make this crap get any faster?

First, what OS are you running? What forum is this? Ok. Anyway, your heading says it all - "Celeron slow" - a tiny amount of L2 cache or none at all. I agree with Titan that Windows 98 will likely run faster on this system than Windows 2000. If you want to run W2k, put it on another computer, preferably a Pentium III or IV, or an Athlon/Athlon XP. Good luck.

Hi, As I was told, intel, to make the chip less expensive, uses less cache in the chip. I have a 1gig amd athlon and a 1.8gig celeron, the athlon is much faster than the celeron. Also, I was told, this is not a fair comparison because the amd chip is their top line and the celeron is their second line. htayq frank

Summary: Don't forget with the celeron, you only get 1\4th the cache and it isn't L2 cache either. That alone will slow things down quite a bit. That's why celeron's are the cheaper pentium processors...
