HELP!
I have installed a CDWriter 128IDE CD/RW drive. I can play music CD's and read data CD's, but I can't burn anything! Using NTI FileCD, when I click on Format it tells me to insert a CD/RW disk. I do, but it doesn't recognize that the disk is there. Same thing with Nero for music CD's. Any ideas?

Did you install the correct drivers for it? It may be using just generic cd-rom drivers.

First, what brand of CD's are you using? In my experience, I've found CD writers to be very finicky with them. I use Memorex CD's exclusively, after having the exact same issue with lesser brands like Verbatim.
I have also seen writers that can be tempermental in regards to the software. I encountered an issue with a Phillips CD/RW that would not write with anything but Adaptec's newest version.

Post #1 has been misinformed. It is not necessary to install drivers for CDR or CDRW drives.

Don't know what OS Dork is using or anything about NTI but I do use Nero with a Lite on burner that I installed paired with a Lite on cd/rom. The rom has no problem with MS drivers, but the burner won't burn without the drivers that came on the install cd. If Dork has the Nero install cd it's listed under Nero>Drivers>win98. Sorry Max but that's the way Nero is with mine anyway. jackha Oh yea I use WIN98
