I need some advice. I want to purchase a liteon CDRW drive 40x12x48x. The box says the minimum sytem requirements is a Pentium 166 mhz and 32 MB ram and Win 95 and above. When I checked the website http://www.liteonit.com it says the drive needs 128 MB ram instead and the same info above. Could you tell me if this drive would work effectively on my PC or would it be too slow or burn coasters or freeze-up. Thanks for the help.

To burn at the advertised speeds you may require 128 MB ram. If you are happy to restrict the burn speed, you may be able to run it on the lower ram.

Don't attempt to do anything else while burning disks (even the odd file on a re-writeable). Count 10 after you think it has finished before you get going again. This will avoid crashes.
The above applies to many machines and can't be any better if your CPU/RAM specs are a bit on the low side.

It's the system requirements of the burning software that you need to worry about more than the CD burner itself. On a Pentium 166 is the minimum system requirement for Easy CD Creator 4, but with a version that old you probably won't be able to download an update so that the program will support your drive. You could try Easy CD Creator 5.0 but a Pentium 200 is the minimum requirement. I have used Easy CD Creator 5.0 successfuly with 64 MB of RAM.
