I have just installed a Philips CDRW 800 series model PCRW804. Using ADAPTEC Easy CD Creator 4.02ds10 software.
When I try to create a music CD it acts like is being written to but after a minute or so it comes back with a message to insert a CD with sufficient space into the CD recorder. I ‘m only doing 1 song to get the feel for how it works but so far no luck.

HI, I recently bought a new Phillips cdrw800. I installed works just fine except I have not made cds yet. But I have made back up of a few cd software that I have. One thing though, I have heard somewhere on this board that you can copy just one track of music. If i understood it right. I will right a few tracks later on today and I will let you know. By the way did you buy it at Circuit City? Just wondering.

I'm having the same exact problem as Joe. I'm trying to copy 14 tracks which should be less than the 80 minutes allowed. I'm using Memorex CD-R 700MB/80 min recordable CD. I get the same error message after one track is written and it ejects my CD. I would call Phillips for a walk thru, but I don't have their number. Can't seem to reach them by internet. Someone, please help us!!!!!!

My CDRW 800 series is not working. I think that I need a new installation cd for it. It opens and closes but when I put a blank cd in it it does not acknowledge it and the green light does not light up like it usually does. I can not find the installation cd for it.

There seems to be a problem with my CDRW804 that I would call a hardware problem. I note that someone mentioned the problem has to do with the PCRW804 being set as a slave or as auto-configured (CS). I've always had this problem though whether is was on its own cable or not. My computer completely freezes up in these situations. My solution has been to take the disk (usually not yet written to) which causes the hardware to freeze up - by freeze up I mean the hardware goes into an endless loop looking for the disk after it is inserted and pushing the eject button no longer works - well, when that happens I lose it and take the offending CD out of the drive after a reboot and crack it up into little bitty pieces and place those little bitty pieces into the trash can. Everytime I do it, I think of doing the same thing to my PCRW804. So far that hasn't happened. But I am this close!

I have just spend MANY hours on the phone with tech support from Philips. (I too have been having no luck with my philips 800 series cdrw it will not accept a blank CD) Turns out that the problem is that this model cdrw does NOT take 80 min CD's!! Tech support says that it is clearly written in the MANUAL!! Problem is that it is NOT written on the box and I have wasted 50 80 min. CD's! Second problem is I can NOT FIND 74 min cd's just anywhere. When I have been lucky enough to find some, they are sold in smaller packages but cost the same or more that the 80 min ones.(tech support suggests I get them on the internet!)What am I gonna do 6 months, a year down the road when it will probably be impossible to buy 74 min cd's? Their answer? "update your crdw unit!!!" I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PHILILS PRODUCT AS LONG AS I LIVE!! If anyone knows where I can get the e-mail or snail mail address for the CEO of the company PLEASE advise. I am gonna do some complaining!
Try a 74 min CD and you will have better results (that is, if you can find them!)
