CD-RW: Can I DELETE an mp3 from a CD???

Ahhh, the beauty of making your own CD's
I just got a HP 9510 CDRW. Have a Pentium Win98 machine. Using HP's "CD Writer" software
I made a music CD with the enclosed software - it works great. However, there is 1 song (track) on there I do not want after all.
I tried to delete the file itself, and can't. Can a song be deleted AFTER the CD has been made??? (I using Memorex CD-R cds).

CD-Rs are permenent, so no you cannot delete a track.

I wondered about the R part. However, when a CD-R is used for DATA, I can write files to it, AND delete files from it just like a floppy.
Do you think what makes it permanent is the process used to make a Music CD (as opposed to a data cd) rather than the media itself?

No it's the media. CDRs are permanent and CDRWs can be erased and rewritten. If your software supports deleting one file on a R/W drive it can do it. CDRs are a different story. When you delete a file on a CDR it isn't really deleted. It's just hidden and still takes up space.
