cdrom not working

I don't exactly know why my system became slow,cdrom not working.when I boost my System in Ms dos mode i see DEVICE DRIVER NOT FOUND: IDECD001
NO VALID CDROM DEVICE DRIVERS SELECTED.
any help to resolve this problem is appreciated.

Your CD may not work in DOS as you do not have the DOS drivers installed for it, see if it works if you boot from a boot disk ! Your system may be running slow as it is detecting a fault with the cd rom. It may be failing (or have failed) or simply one of the cables has become unplugged

DEVICE DRIVER NOT FOUND
Look in config.sys to see where the driver is supposed to be, for example mine is :
DEVICE=C:\UTIL\VIDE-CDD.SYS /D:MSCD001
so the driver on my machine must be in the UTIL directory.
