I'll admit this i was trying some system optimizations in the registry (WIN95B) but nothing with any thi g to do with the CD-Rom drive. In device manager i'm getting a yellow arrow on my IDE hard disk controller. I've reinstalled windows, tryed different device drivers, but my D: won't show up in WIndows or a dos box. Worst on all it keeps asking me for sound drivers (SB128 PCI) everytime I boot up. Any suggestions are appreicated, thanks. i've also tried reloading system.dat and user.dat from the backup files (da0) but there is no change, it can't be a hardware problem, becasue the cd-rom is deteched during bootup, not to mention that DOs using it just fine. AAAAHHH

You probably have ann IRQ conflict, Check device manager ( System at the top ) and see if two devices have the same IRQ, if there is, change one to an empty IRQ and reboot.

is the mscdex.exe program located in your c:\windows\command directory installed. Windows needs this to recognise your cd rom

You said that you have a yellow mark in your hard disk controller. If your CD is on the same controller this might be the problem. Go to the computer's web site and check their driver section for your computer/system board for the latest hard disk controller drivers.

no IRQ confilcts anywhere, couldn't find any hard disk controller drivers for my motherboard (GA-586T2) my cd-rom has always been setup like this, could this be a motherboard issue (I've had some strange IOS problems come up before, fixed em though) , a cd-rom issue (it actually stopped working once), both? Maybe I should just format my hard-drive and install Windows again, (it could be a windows thing) any suggestions?
