i was wondering how to use a boot disk so you can use a cdrom drive to install windows.
i cant configure the drive in bios so how can i change to the drive in dos if i dont know the drive letter?

Simple! Boot from a floppy with cdrom support.
Get one at www.bootdisk.com

or just make the disk from your friend win98 machine.

Win98 boot disk will set up a RAM drive on the letter following the last hard drive letter. Your CDROM will be the next letter after that.
For instance, if you have one drive, it is C. RAM drive will be D, CDROM drive will be E.
This is all explained in the help file on the win98 boot disk.
