I am having a little trouble with my CD-ROM drive letters. I had a cd-rom installed, and I just got a dvd drive. I would like the dvd to drive letter H: and the cdrom I:, however, the situation is currently reversed. How can I change the drive letters for these two devices? Thanks

I think you have to remove the devices an put one back at a time in the order you want the letter to come

Right click my computer/then system
Find your cdrom or dvd
drive in the device manager, click properties
then settings and "play" with
the first/last letter for this drive
at the bottom of the tab

Matthew,
You can do as "unisol" suggests only do so in the following manner. First open up the DVD-ROM drive, the one labled "I". Set the drive letter to "J" or "K". Restart the system. Next do the same for the CD-ROM only now change the drive letter to "I" (which was not available untill you performed the above operation). Restart the system again and change the DVD-ROM letter to "H" and reboot again. The drive letters will now appear as you want them to be.
If for some reason this fails you can do it manually buy reconfiguring the hardware. Put both devices on the secondary EIDE controller with the DVD-ROM configured as "Master" and the CD-ROM as "slave" via the jumper settings on the back of each unit. This will set the drive letters with the DVD-ROM as "H" and the CD-ROM as "I". I will also hold the order in which these drives are renamed in case you add or remove other EIDE devices or repartition a hard drive.
John
