I've never had a problem before, but the last few days when I've tried to use my CD-Rom drive, it doesn't work... it says the device in unaccessible, although there's a CD in it... both audio and data CD's are not working... yes, it detects the CD-Rom drive as primary slave upon startup...

other ideas?

You might try a cleaning CD (has a brush on it) to clean the lens. Or you can remove the drive, remove the cover and clean the lens with alcohol. Is there another unit handy that you can sub in its place? The darn things do wear out.
