cd-rom cd-write cannot open

well, here is the problem, I have AMD K6, with cd-rom cd-writer, a drive, It was working ok, but now its not, I don't see any drive in my computer. so i went to device manager and run the wizerd to install driver. but that din't work too.

If a CD is stuck inside the CD-ROM drive use a metal paper clip that you insert in the small hole under the drawer: the thing should open.If you use your drive a lot for games etc., it is normal that it will not last very long. May be if you have an extra bay, you can install a CD-ROM drive for work and games and keep your CD-RW for burning in the other bay.The CD-RW does not need to have sound support. Before buying a new drive, you can borrow one from a friend and test your setup or ask a friend to test your drive in his computer.There are good used CD-ROM drives on the market like a 12X or 16X unit:those cost very little since DVD and CD-RW drives have become popular.Good luck.
