Hello All, Was just made aware of this site and think it's great. Everyone seems so helpful. To my question, I posted a message last week inquiring about a CD burner compatible with my Windows 98 system. I was directed towards a unit that called for 98se and warned to be careful that it might not run with 98. I searched for a CD-r that would run with just 98 and was unable to find one. Does anyone know of a burner that will work with 98? (Internal ot External the original post stated external) Can I upgrade my OS to SE or better? Would it be worth it and can my Pentium 2 handle it? Answers to any or all would be greatly appreciated. Joe

Most internal CDRs will work just fine with 98. It would still be worth checking that the software bundled is suitable though.
The problem with external drives is more related to 98s poor to nonexistant support for USB and firewire.

Burner should be fine on Pent II. More RAM always helps.
Golden rule, keep hands off mouse and keyboard until 10 seconds after you finish burning a CD. It whacks the processor rather.
