I have created a cd relating to engineering and I would like to incorporate some form of software on it to stop any other users from copying any of the content of my cd. How can I do this.
Thanks

Record companies have been trying to do this for years
Why not zip or rar (preferably)it with a password, include a copy of the application on the cd

I don't think it can be done. (I have been wrong before.)
The closest I can think of would be to create your documents in HTML format using java script to prevent the use of the Copy key.
Of course that process is not foolproof either but will stop most users from being able to copy your documents.
The problem is that once a document is displayed on the users screen they can copy it by one means or another.
Your best bet would be to copyright the material and include that fact on your CD.

DO you want others' to be able to use this CD?? Or do you want "total" protection so to speak so that its' contents cannot even be read by others? If you want "Total" protection, get a copy of PGP version 262 I think it is. It comes with a "built-in" portion of the program called PGP Disk. One can create a "virtual" drive that has to have an exhaustive password PHRASE entered before that "drive" can be accessed. On a hard drive, this "virtual drive" appears as a single file that cannont be read unless one runs the PGP disk software.

Thanks for your reply. I want others to be able to view my cd but not be able to copy any of its contents

Hmmm, I then guess it would be determined upon the type(s) of data that you will be having other view.
If it's just documents, i.e. prints, or if it's "movie" type or sound files. With prints, you could "watermark" them before compiling the disk, and with video file, provided you are copiling the mpg or avi file yourself, you could do the same type of thing. Your name or company or whatever would be seen, in small print, on ever frame. Minded, these ideas and concepts won't 'prevent' copying, but would be unideal to copy then redistribute the data.
I give you these ideas, because there is no way to prevent 'copying' if the data can be viewed. Other things that can be done would be, if it is possible, "copyright" or patent the data. At least then if someone copies and sells it wrongfully, you'ld have a leg to stand on.
