I have a UTI 6.0 CD drive. Just recently I upgraded my computer and the CD rom wasn't recognized when it was all put together. The CD is recognized in DOS, but it isn't in Windows 95. Just recently I plugged the CD back in to try it again. Miraculously the CD rom was detected. But it wouldn't read at all and it caused my system to freeze up. It has been doing this for a little while. I don't have any drivers for the CD and the bastards who made it don't keep drivers on their site. I think it is a conflict between my Hard Disk controller, for that they both have an IRQ of 14. I tried changing this but my system won't let me. Please Help!

It is a USSertek UTI V6.0 24X IDE CD ROM

I have a different problem with the same drive. Whenever I put in a CD it ejects it 4 to 6 times before keeping it. It happens under both win and linux. Any solutions? Please email me joe@chicago.crosswinds.net

I have the UTI 4.6 24x drive. Have had nothing but problems. It locks up both NT and 98. Only thing that seems to help is to turn off AutoInsertNotification, Force PIO mode in BIOS instead of UDMA, and to replace it as fast as possible. This drive is crap. If anyone knows where to find updated drivers for this drive (32bit) for either 98/NT, please share with the rest of us.
