Comment:

I just returned from vacation where I had downloaded a chip from my camera to a CD. I inserted the CD and viewed a few pics then things stopped and I cant retrieve the CD. The light is on but it wont respond when I depress the button. I hit "My computer" again clicked on drive D and it says device is not ready, yet the CD is in there. Also drive :"E" (Nero burner) seems to have disappeared from the list under "my computer" Cant figure what I may have done here ??

I assume all was well before you went away.

Was it a CD-R or CD-RW? If it's a CD-R which has not been finalised or a CD-RW it might only play on the burner.

If you can't eject the CD with Nero try powering off then push a straightned paper clip through the tiny hole or slot on the front panel of your CD drive, which should mechanically eject the CD. Push the drawer gently back.

Reboot and see if the two drives are present.
If so try a CD with pictures that you have used before on a given drive.

If this works then try the new CD again. If it fails as before it points to some problem with the CD or the recording you burnt on it.

Thanks for the suggestions Derek. I tried the right click eject and it opened, then rebooted and the "E" drive returned to the list in "My Computer" Thanks again

Fine. These gliches happen at times. Often a little persuasion or reboot does the trick.
