have a hi val burner 4x8 it will not see a blank cd... a cd I have already burned to but no filled up ... it will see it and I can add to it but a blank it will see for a second and then it will say not ready...I have all the lastest cd burning programs and have updated them I have tried using it as the master cd on secondary ide and as the slave on the secondary ide ,, a new cable I have reformated and still it will not see blank cd... I have tried several different cds HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM IT IS A WEIRD PROBLEM I KNOW BUT IT IS HAPPENING ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED THKS.

Well, I can think 3 problems. Some writer progs not 100% compatible with w98 or other OS.Try to get some named like maxel or tdk blank disks. Some dust sit on your laser lens so you sould try to clean it. good luck
