Right clicking on my D:\ drive in My Computer and clicking Properties it shows the disk in blue (full).

When clicking "open" a message reads from (My Computer box) "D:\ is not accessible. The device is not ready". I am allowed to "cancel" at this time.

Press "explore" and I get the same message but from (Windows Explorer box). When pressing "cancel" at this point it sends me to Exploring - Desktop.

I am not having any serious problems with the machine, just wondering if I should be allowed to access the drive. Or if this is a potential problem. Thanks,

If you perform the actions you describe when you have no data disk in the drive the messages you get are normal. Does the drive read CDs?
