Whenever I copy some files I have burned onto a CD back to my hard drive they copy as read only. Then I have to change the file attribute on each file in order to work on it. Is there a work around for this?

Hi brianbusse, hi everyone,>I have to change the file attribute on each
>file
You must change file attributes but not one by one... copy files to the hard disk/select all of the files/right-click on any file/Properties/General tab, uncheck "Read Only" box, click on OK.Have a good day,

What Gérard advised is the right way forward for the particular thing you are trying to do, but it made me think that you might not be aware of this:
Any continuous block of files can be highlighted by single clicking a file at one end of the block, then holding down Shift key and single clicking a file at the other end of the block.
You can add individual files in any order by holding down the Ctrl key and clicking each file that you want to add.
Again you can set all atrribs at once by right clicking any of the now higlighted files.
It can be very useful generally.

...and there is no "work around" for this issue. Files copied onto CDs automatically have their attributes set to 'Read only', so that's the way there are when you copy them off the CD.

Thank you "Gérard from Paris, France"
That was a truly elegant response about a particularly vexing problem I hadn't been able to figure out for years.
The mass file attribute change you suggested works great.
And thanks to Derek and rac for their informative follow up also.
