I am trying to install a program off of a cd, and the instructions tell me to reboot the computer with the cd in the drive, so that the cd can launch at boot and install. My friends drive does not seem to have autorun enabled. How can I turn on the autorun function for the cd rom?

Go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager, click the Plus on the CDROM, double click his cdrom, Settings, and make sure the Auto Insert Notification is on. I'm not sure if you tried this, but you can go to My Computer and Double Click on the CDROM, i think that will launch the autorun file on your CD.

Auto insert notification, disconnect, and dma are selected on both my DvD rom and CD rom. In multimedia, the autorun box is greyed out (*I do not know why). I know about double clicking on the CD rom in my computer, but I need the cd to boot at the computer start-up, not while running windows.

You may or may not be able to do this...depending on how old your PC is.
But what you need to do is go into your CMOS and set your boot order so that it looks at the CD first. Right now it is probably A: drive then c:. Like I said your system may or may not have this capabilty.
Hope this helps...
