My CD-ROM went out on me a few months ago, so I replaced it with a CD-R/W.
I wanted more burning capacity and have ordered and just received a DVD-R burner also.
I haven't istalled it yet.....Is there any problem with having both on the same computer?
My thoughts are also about "DVDit" which came bundeled with both burners. I already have it installed for the CD-R/W, is there any reason to install it again as it came with the DVD burner? Are there any DVD burner specific functions the CD-R/W bundled program might not have included that I'd want?(or conflicts if I did install it with the DVD-R? software bundle)

You can have both on the same machine, but when you install them be sure to check the jumper switches in the back of the cd and dvd. Both use the same type cable, so hookup is a breeze. Make the cd Master and the dvd slave. Just go ahead and install the software, it will just copy over your exsisting folder and if there are any new features for dvd, they'll be applied.
