My cd and cd burner drives are plug in and they open and close. my question is how come when i put a cd in and open my drives it says that the drives are not ready and not accesible. my floppy drive works. how can i fix this problem

If the drives are on the same cable try disconnecting one of them. Make sure the connected one is set to master.
Also, you can boot with a bootdisk and choose cdrom support. Then put a data disk in and at the a:\> prompt type:
dir e:
and enter, where e: is letter of the cd device containing the data disk. The bootdisk may have temporarily altered the cd drive letters. The correct ones will show on the screen just before the final a:\> prompt when booting from the bootdisk.
Keep hitting 'retry' if you get an error. It may take a few seconds for the cdrom to spin up.
Does any of the above give you access to the cd disk?
