First time in using ccleaner. I notice the button "applications" but there isn't any explanation of how it is used. Is it proper and safe to leave all of the settings checked and then run? I am new at this game and intend to use ccleaner a step at a time starting with "temporary internet files" until I get the feel of it. Too cautions, eh?

http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour3.asp Lower left corner of ccleaner window "help topics" Click on for a tour of the utility. Above will take you to the applications section. good luck

Thanks Stanley but the only explanation I found about Applications is:
"You will notice a second tab at the top labelled Applications. This displays a list of additional cleaning options for third-party applications you have installed. This list will change automatically to include new programs."Nevertheless, is it safe to include all of the Application listings in the cleaning process?

When you click on the applications tab you get a list. The only thing that may be a problem is regedit. You can always uncheck that. When you click analyze you will see a list of things to be removed (mostly cookies). If you see anything that you don't understand ...google it. good luck.

Stanly, before I read your reply I ran it with regedit checked and only for isolated categories in the Windows listing.
The last thing I cleaned was the Temporary Files but they wouldn't be cleaned until a restart is made. When I restarted this morning, it took a much longer time than in the past for the desktop to be loaded and usuable but once it got going, the system seemed to operate faster. I checked my free space to see how much was cleaned through the Temporary Files and gained free space from 4.49GB to 4.93GB, quite few bytes on my 8.4GB system. Haven't had that much free space since year 2001. I wonder if it will be slow in loading the next time.
