Comment:

Last night I ran a Live Update from Norton and this morning, my computer would not go onto the internet. When shutting down or rebooting, I kept noticing that the ccapp was not responding or was busy.

Apparently this .exe application from Norton Antivirus tells the programs to check incoming emails and monitor the computer against viruses.

Anyway, I went to msconfig and turned off the ccapp and the computer was able to go back onto the internet. When you turn the ccapp back on - the computer will not go on the internet and it will not shut down without hitting the power button.

So what is the best thing to do? uninstall and then reinstall Norton Systemworks 2003 ( our antivirus software ), simply reinstall the program, or is there a patch or something else we need to be doing aside from reloading the program?

I'm just a home user with enough computer knowledge to be dangerous, so any easy fixes are appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try turning off ScriptBlocking in the Norton Antivirus section.

I had same problem. But then I read this
from expert-exchange.It solved my problem.

Have you Internet Explorer?
If so, go into Tools | Internet Options | Advanced (tab)
Scroll down to the Security settings - uncheck the "Check for publishers certificate revocation" option.

Information about stopping ccApp.exe from loading at startup

Situation:
You are trying to maximize your system resources in order to make your computer start faster. When you open the Windows System Configuration Utility to check which programs are loading at start up, you see a file called ccApp.exe. You want to know what will happen if you uncheck the program to stop it from loading on startup.

Solution:
ccApp is an important part of the protection that Norton AntiVirus (NAV) or Norton Internet Security (NIS) provides and should not be disabled at startup.

ccApp.exe is the common hosting application that is used by both NAV and NIS. It is responsible for calling the different program features in NAV and NIS. For example, in NAV, if Auto-Protect and Email Scanning are enabled, then ccApp.exe makes sure that those programs are running. If ccApp is disabled, then Auto-Protect and Email Scanning will not run.

If you have already disabled ccApp.exe, then follow the steps in the document Auto-Protect does not load after installing Norton AntiVirus and then restarting the computer to re-enable the program.
