I am having compatibility problems with my 2 Gig Caviar Hard drive, When using the drive as a Single drive, everything is just fine, but when it's used as a slave. In Windows, under System, Devices. The Hard Drive controller is not picked up. I receive this error under "System, Performance tab. "Drive C: using MS-DOS compatibility mode file system"

Are you sure you are setting the Caviar as a slave with the jumpers. Also is the Caviar using anykind od "disk management" software.

What is the other drive brand. Some drives are not compatable together.

Try calling Western Digital or go to their web site.

Hope this helps....

Be sure you are not running any real mode CD-ROM drivers, or any other real mode IDE driver.
