Hello all.
I use Compuserve ver 7.0 to connect to the internet, but I use Internet Explorer Ver. 5.00.2314.1000 set as by default browser. I use Internet Explorer for virtually all my web browsing or surfing.
For the past week I havn't been able to view web pages I had visited while using IE offline (I doubt running scanreg/restore would help).
I can't find anything amiss in my settings in Internet Options, both in while I'm in IE and in Control Panel.
While I'm in IE, the web pages in the history pane on the left are grayed out, dispite the fact that I have *Work offine* checked off and I can't access them. These web pages or files also don't appear in my History or Temporary Internet Files.
Any help would be appreciated.
John.

"For the past week I havn't been able to view web pages I had visited while using IE offline"
Double check IE, Tools, Internet Options, Advanced and under the Security section check to make sure that "Empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed" is not checked.
Otherwise...
I highly recommend going to IE, Help, Contents and Index, Working Offline, Making pages available for viewing offline."(Notes: In previous versions of Internet Explorer, offline viewing was called "subscribing.")"

After reading my response I realize that it does not correctly answer your posting.
The Temporary internet files folder is only a caching mechanism for loading previously visited pages but not to be confused with Offline viewing.
Same is true for the History folder. It is only a record of the links to the pages visited.
So, as I understand it, when working offline there is no connection between these mentioned items. Hence they are greyed out.
In order to be able to view material offline you must save that material offline first.
The IE Help file explains how to do this. I personally have never tried it and I don't use the Favorites folder either.

Bryan

Perhaps you should update your browser?
