I am running WIN98 2nd edition.
I deleted a file in the File Folder View. I went to a sub-folder where I keep my graphics for my website, such as .jpg's and .gif's. While in the sub-directory, I went to VIEW, then FOLDER OPTIONS. Then I went to FILE TYPES, and scrolled down... noticed that there were 2 entries for JPEG image. And I thought (yes, I know, I shouldn't have thought) well, this must be an error, so I'll just delete the 2nd one. WRONG! Now I have lost the ability to view my graphics *sigh* My Mom always said, IF IT'S NOT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT! Why didn't I listen? :-(
Ok, so now I figure I'd better add it back in. But... everytime I try, it says it already exists.
It allows me to 'preview' my HTML files in a folder, but not my graphic images in the sub-folder.
I even tried to re-install WIN98 over my existing system, hoping it would put the file back, but alas, no.
Have I totally messed up my system, should I delete WIN98 and re-install?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
Angi

Try this
Single-click on a .jpg file (to highlight it).
Hold down shift while right-clicking on the file.
Choose "open with" from the menu
select the application you want to use to open the file (Internet Explorer or other graphics viewer you use)
Be sure the box "always use this program to to open this type of file" is checked.
Let me know if it worked.

Hi Dave,
I guess (as usual) I wasn't as specific as I should have been.
What I should have said is, I've lost the ability to PREVIEW the .jpgs and .gifs in the sub-folder. You know, when you cursor over a file, it shows you the pic on the left side of the folder? That's what it doesn't do anymore.
Yet it WILL preview if I cursor over one of my HTML files, just not my graphic files.
I have plenty of viewers such as PSP and PhotoShop to actually bring the files up.
So, now can you help? :-)
Thanks again,
Angi

Angi, Go to the FIXPIX link below my name(Homepage:), read the instructions for your version of Windows and if "Prewview Fix #1 doesn't solve the problem use "Preview Fix #2 and download the FixPix.inf file and follow the instructions. This should solve your problem.
