At first I can view the page but nowadays I can't view it! Why? I refresh it and it say res://C:\windows\system\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm!
Help! At cybercafe, the web page can be view!

I recently installed the complete version of Norton and I suddenly had that same problem. I uninstalled the complete version and installed the standard version and the problem went away. I don't know what one has to do with the other but they definately seemed to be linked

You need to set your DNS Servers in the TCP/IP properties of your Modem Connection.
Also, this occurs when the WINSOCK2 Registry Key and TCP/IP stack are not updated.
How comfortable are you with working with Win registry, as the fix invloves that?
Also, the Microsoft Knowledge database (search your error) has some info on this as well. Sorry, don't have the link.

Hi - I have the same problem.(Win 98, IE 5)
After installing a newer version of Norton's Anti Virus, I've had two major annoyances which I don't know how to fix (and I don't want to uninstall NAV)1. Outlook Express takes forever to start up and to Switch Identity. Also takes forever to bring up the New Mail window.
2. In Internet Explorer I keep getting ".../SHDOCLC.DLL/dnserror.htm" and can't view the webpage. Sometimes after refreshing several times, the web page comes up; but it's a frustrating process.I have tried to edit the registry (with my very limited knowledge of these things) and deleted the winsock files but nothing has changed and maybe the problem is more complex...Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "updating the TCP/ICP stack" & any other suggestions?
If you can please email me lilichin@hotmail.com. Thanks!
