These I/O errors occur when I install any demo game from Fileplanet.com
But Im sure this is windows 98se related.
Recently (2-3 months ago) my motherboard crashed, just flat out died in the night, and when I replaced it, The following displays itself in DOS on an everyday
boot-up:No Disk connected to Hpt336 host adapter
Bios for Hpt335 host adapter not installed. This is the main problem:
The exact error reads:
"An I/O error occured while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file."
Any help at all would be much appreciated.
My system specs are as follows:PIII 800
512 RAM
Windows 98second edition
Radeon 8500DDR
Diamond Supramax voice modem.
Soundblaster Live! Value
**supspicious** Freetech P6116 Main board. Thanks again, Ive pretty much given up all hope on ever getting this problem fixed, but I saw Computing.net and thought Id give it another go.

Hi, The **supspicious** Freetech P6116 Main board may use the same I/O controller as this ABIT board.
"ABIT BE6 with HighPoint HPT336 Ultra DMA66 BIOS for your UDMA66 hard disk that have its own IDE channel. Up to 8 IDE drives can be installed."
At a guess, in the BIOS setup, the Hard Drive setup is configured with the wrong information.
Have you checked this is right. Set all drives as none then use the HDD identification tool to set the drives.
HTH

I havent tried that, but I sure can, ,would you have any info as to what to do exactly?
thanks again for your responce,
-Steven
