Subject: can't set the boot in my bios
OS: xp home
CPU/Ram: pentium 1.9Mhz
Comment:

Hi, I have a great problem trying to clean out Win
98. My BIOS seems very limited, I can't get into
any other frames than the main frame that gives
very limeted options. Can't set the boot other than
boot from: main bios or backup bios.
Any ideas on how to format my hard disk?
My new install disc (xp) only does clean install
because it's a manufacturer disc. (not supposed to
need to update, comes with new computer) it
formats the c if you boot from the CD, but I can't
set the bios into booting from CD for the reasons
above. Please help, I am stuck!

No BIOS I've ever seen has limited options...only limited users! Just joking, erm, you do know that you use the cursor keys to move left and right to different screens? Also, space selects and Return chooses in the menus you find...so if at first something seems to not have an extra option, press space to see if an extrended menu comes up...or up down on the cursor keys.

I'll eat my hat if you've got a BIOS that has only one screen with nothing to change in it!!

yes, that's what I tought. I am a pretty limited user
of BIOS I agree! which is why i am asking for help.
When I start the computer it says: press F1 to
enter Dual BIOS (that's the name of it) Utility. Than
I get a blue screen with the navigating instructions
on the bottom: PgDn/PgUp: Modify, Arrows:
Moove, Esc: Reset and F10: Power Off.

On top there is a line with I would suppose the
menu - written in red: AMI Dual BIOS Flash ROM
Programming Utility v1.01 I can't navigate these...

Than it lists 3 settings:
Boot from....Main Bios
Main ROM Type....HUNDAY HY29F002T
Backup ROM Type.....HUNDAY HY29F002T
- but i can't navigate these lines.

Than follows: 4 lines I can navigate with the listed
keys on the bottom:
Wide Range Protection: Disable
Boot From: Main Bios
Auto Recovery: Enable
Halt On Error: Disable

Than follows 3 commands that I can run:
Copy Main ROM Data to Backup
Load Default Settings
Save settings to CMOS

Thas't it. I thought this frame was not looking very
adventaures. Can u help?
