Can't Set 256 Colors

I've had this strange problem of my computer freezing and I have to restart. Well, it froze, but this time my color palet is set at 16 colors, with no other option available. I'm using dreamweaver, flash, photoshop and cannot run these programs without 256 color. Does anyone know any other way of setting it besides in the settings window ? Using win98 still.

I don't know of another method. However from what you state, I think you need to resolve a hardware or driver problem.
Go to control panel /system /device manager click expand /display adapters
What do you get?
Though you were asking about another method of setting display, to help solve your freezing problem - could you post the Model of your PII and video card.

Your problem is that your display drivers are corrupt. You will need to find the driver disc that came with your PC/display card and install the driver from there.
If you don't have the disc, then you will need to download it from the manufacturers website or you can try www.driverguide.com

Yes, Re install ur display drivers,either from the win98 cd or from driversguide.com This will correct ur problem , I had the same issue last week!!!
