I have a connexant HCF V90 56K data fax PCI modem and I am using windows 98 version 2. I use outlook express for email. I can log onto the internet OK but often when I click on send/receive the process gets stuck on "connecting" or it will get to "authorising" and get stuck there and I cannot send or receive email. I get an error message saying host cannot be found. This problem is intemittent. It happens every few days. I have tried many things to try to fix it but the problem remains. I wonder whether it is a problem with my ISP (a large ISP) or a problem with something else. My telephone line has been checked and is fine. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity who is your email provider and can you access it directly via their site....... If yes have you checked your pop3 is set up correctly? This is just really brief, try these first, but do have a few ideas.

You need to contact you ISP & find out exactly what your email username or user ID is. They should walk you through the process of checking your mail settings. (I work for an ISP & we do this all day long). :)
