Earlier today I ran a patch prog. I DLed via Overnet. Since then, I am unable to run any executable files whatsoever. When the comp. boots: it does not load any of programs it is supposed to at startup. Now, this alone leads me to believe I DLed a virus or something along those lines. Oddly though, I can doubleclick on a jpg and it loads my picture viewer. I can click on a webpage link from the start menu and it loads up IE. I can click on a .txt and it will load up notepad and etc etc etc. I DLed f-prot (a dos ran virus scanner) and it did find 200 infected files. All 200 files were infected with torvis.d though. So, those infected files didn't had nothing to do with my main problem. So, basicly, i can't run any program and have no net access. I also can't run regedit, msconfig, winipcfg, command and etc etc. Help? "I may be fixable. But, I'll never be top-of-line again.

Jallan, Download and run the Fixswen.inf file. If you can't access the Internet use another computer that has Internet access and go to the link below and download the Fixswen.inf file onto a floppy disk. Transfer the floppy to the problem computer and run it. "Save the fixswen.inf file to your local hard disk, right-click on the file and choose install". "A Setup INF file to undo registry changes made by W32/Swen@MM and other threats that prevent REGEDIT, BAT, COM, EXE, PIF, REG and SCR files from running". Okay, this is what has happened so far: I installed the .inf and programs were then able to run. Still no net access, my keyboard shortcut keys still don't work, I get a msg on startup about IPHLPAPI.DLL not being able to run, and after a reboot, things go back to the way they were before the .inf install. how odd... "I may be fixable. But, I'll never be top-of-line again.
