Can't restore My Documents icon

I'm running a dual boot 98/xp system. I was storeing my files in the My Documents folder in XP, then I deleted the My Documents folder in 98 and copied the My Documents folder from XP to the 98 partition. Now the My Documents icon on the desktop is missing and I can't put it back. I've tried right clicking on the My Documents folder and selecting "Add item to desktop" but the option isn't there. I've right clicked on the desktop and selecting "new my documents folder" from the new menu but that option is gone too. I've tried using TweakUI and messing with the registry but that didn't work either. Does anyone know how to fix this?
In the registry go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Documents
If you see a Key: HideMyDocsFolder then delete it. This same route and key is repeated under HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT so it's also worth checking, but it usually goes away automatically when you delete the above HKEY_CURRENT_USER key.

The My Documents icon on my 98 desktop was deleted when I used 98Lite to remove IE from the OS. When I reinstalled IE the My Documents and the options to restore it never came back.
