want to remove sound icon in system tray - have tried in audio properties; multimedia in control panel but after i unclick "show volume control...;the computer freezes completely - can't even use ctrl alt del. Have tried removing from windows setup, deleting file itself from windows folder but then the next time I reboot-system freezes and doesn't load. I know I can just leave it there and may have to do that but am curious as to why this might happen. Usually, people want to know how to get it to show up on the systray. Any ideas appreciated

probably ur sound drivers not too right somewhere... Or maybe windows is not reading your sound devices properly... try showing display control in the task bar and see if it freezes up then.

Yamaha usually sets up an icon in control panel. Click on it and see if you can remove the volume control from there.
