Have a network. Windows 2000 and XP can print to network printer (HP Laserjet with NIC- can only use IP address to connect). When I add a printer in 98/ME machines it says that the printer is offline. I only can put an IP not the sharename. It is a stand alone with a NIC.
god says dont install the printer from the add printers install it on one pc first then go to network neighborhood and drag the printer icon from the machine its installed on to the desktop of the other
When using a printer with a NIC you probaly need secondary print software ie: jetdriect, mulitdirect print, or another network print software. Check the manuall that came with the NIC in the printer.
