ok, sorry for misleading you guys, you miss understood my problem.....my regestry is ok now, the only thing is, i can't open it to change some settings because the access is blocked...that is the main problem, i was asking if there was a way around it? now the thing with me deleting system.dat file, i did that because i read somewhere on the inernet that this would destroy my regestry and get rid of all the restrictions, see i did not mess up the regestry when i deleted those files, because i still had the backups...anyway its not a joke and i don't see how those 2 guys can be insulting me jsut cause they didn't get the question...arab with his hands cut off..ha ha, very funny, thanks for replying
to Brian i don't need to reformat or re-install anything because my regestry is not messed up..yet

to What?! i don't want to chose yes to restore my old version of the regestry, because it has all the restrictions on it, get it?

Access is blocked? What are you trying to open the registry with?

And yes, if you deleted SYSTEM.DAT and USER.DAT you did mess up the regisry - they are the registry. Windows should have detected this, and prompted you for a restore from CAB files.

If you are running Regedit and it is either not runnning or giving you errors, you have a virus/trojan.(I can't remember which one)
Run a full AV scan with uptodate definitions.
