Sirs,
My computer is an Acer with a 200MHz processor. It has 64GB of RAM and a 4G hard drive. The operating system is windows 98 Second Edition, Version4.10.2222A. It has Internet Explorer Version 5.50.4807.2300.
The problem is that I cannot open any files in a folder that I have been using for years. After attempting to open a file, a notice comes up stating that there is an:
"Error starting program. A required .dll file, MS097.DLL, was not found."
I believe this problem occured when I downloaded a the latest version of Adobe Reader, and later deleted it because it wouldn't operate to my satisfaction.
I re-installed Windows 98 from my CD.
I also re-installed Acrobat3, but still have the same problem. Please help.Thank you, Mike

What type of files are you trying to open?? I believe that the MSO97.dll is an MS Office 97 file, (anyone, correct me if i am wrong).
If the documents you are trying to open are MS Office documents, Try to reinstall the version of Office you have. This should remedy the problem.

MSO97.dll is a Microsoft Office 97 file. You didn't mention that you have Office 97 installed, but I would suggest re-installing it.

hhhhhhhhmmmmmmm ??????
I have Office 97 installed BUT, there's no MSO97.dll anywhere on my machine. Maybe it's not an Office 97 file.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 97.

Mike , the correct name is Mso97.dll . Copy & paste into the top line of Find , set the drive to D or whatever you use for your Rom .
Insert your Office CD ( close if the autostart kicks in ) & press Enter .

Coin
Maybe some .dll's are hidden but the vast majority are not. Take a look in:
c:\windows\system
