I refomated my hard drive and went through the setup process. Now when I try to open My Computer, Exployer, or any disk utility the system locks up. I even tried reinstalling windows. Of course it locked up when trying to install in windows. So I had to reinstall inside of MS-dos. Need any assistance!!

well heres a suggestion. Whenever i want to format my system i first do a fdisk to remove all partitions then format, then install operating system. Doing it this way, 99% of the time you won't have any problems. Maybe run a scandisk from dos to see if it finds and fixes any errors. Or try booting to safe mode and removing everything in your device manager and then reboot. Do that 3 times and reboot after each time then try to boot up normally

you can't get rid of the partions on this pC because it's using fat16 file system. The max it can hold is 2 gig. The hard drive is a 4 gig hard drive! This is what I heard at least. I am subject to be wrong. I'll try it though!! Thanks, anybody else with any suggestions.

you can get rid of any partition on any computer, no matter was fat it is. even if it was to give you trouble, there is a dos utility called "delpart" that removes any and all partitions. Now on a fat16 each partition can only handle 2gigs or less, if you want it to use the whole 4 gigs on one partition go to fat32, but if your going to use fat32, you have to go straight to installing win9x and bypass installing DOS.
Its always good practice to fdisk, then format.
