I'm writing for a persoon that doesn't have internet access at this time. I you need more info let me know. Thanks, the problem is when this person attempts to load his sound driver (sound card intigrated in mother board) for his mother board after reformatting his hard drive,
elitegroup mainboard, model# k7vza
via ac 97 audio controller (wdm). Here are some messages he has encountered:
"windows encountered an error while trying to install the driver for this
device. error # :137"
"via ac 97 audio chipset is not enabled on this system! please enable it
first on the bios then run this setup again." Any help would be appreciated to help him to install this driver. He tried to load this driver through his os from mother board disk, and from the internet with no luck. This driver did work in the past before the reformat. Thanks again,
dave m

It appears the onboard sound is disabled in the BIOS. Boot to the BIOS (del) Find the option and enable exit and save. When windows starts the next time it will attempt to install the sound chip. Your friend needs to supply the path to the driver. If your friend sees some screens prior to windows startup, the correct key is displayed during that POST cycle. If no screens are displayed, your friend will have to try different keys. Del is the most popular, but not the only, by far. Once into the BIOS change the setting for fast boot to Disable. This will allow the loading of devices and testing of memory to show.

also chek that the sound is not disabled on mother board jumper
