I'm trying to install the camera connection software from the CD that came with my Kodak EasyShare CX4200 digital camera. Every time I try, it fails with this message:
"Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I've tried disabling anti virus software and anything running, and I also tried in Safe Mode, but it still happens everything. I went to see if the Kodak site had newer drivers to try, but the only camera connection software all I found was for Mac.
Any suggestions?

PC, I just went through this same thing installing that software on my daughter-in-law's pc. I still haven't been able to get the easy-share installed but I got the drivers installed. Mine kept coming up that the device was already there (meaning the installer). So I searched the hard drive for the installer file and deleted it. This was after I got the instructions off the Kodak website. And they do have updated drivers. I think they are 3.5version or something like that. You just click on the EasyShare and it gives you a windows or mac option. If you can't find it and want me to send it to you I can. I'd go get the link right now but running late for work and car needs to have ice scraped off. If you still need it tonight let me know and I'll send it to you. Ok?

Does the EasyShare software include the normal drivers as well? I found this page of downloads for my camera (which you have to be a member to use), and it has the EasyShare software for both Windows and Mac, but the camera connection software is only available for Mac. I wasn't really planning to use the EasyShare software, I just wanted the camera drivers that allow Windows 98 to access it like another drive. (like XP can by default) I liked the way this worked on another Win98 system I used it with, but it doesn't seem to want to install on this one.
If what you have is the driver for that in Windows 98, then that'd be great if you could send it along.

May I suggest that it is quicker and easier to buy an external USB card reader? I have a Kodak DC3400 which I like a lot. I bought a Dazzle Compact Flash Reader at Radio Shack for $19.95. You just plug it in when you want to download pics, and remove it when you are done. Quicker than downloading from the camera via connecting cables and you can take it with you when go visiting.

Try going to the following website and you may get the answer. I did for a camera that I was trying to install.

As I said in my last post, I had gotten the answer but today I used the Mcrepair and it took care of my friend's problem.
