Ok i'm tryin to install 2k on a 2nd partition, but when i try using my 98/ME startup disk, i keep getting "Setup cannot be run is DOS Mode." Why do i get that even though i select to start the pc with CD-ROM support? Any help appreciated, thank you!

Oh yea one more thing when i tried installing it while on 98, i chose a "clean install", and when i got to the setup copying the files, one file couldn't be copied which was "setupldr.bin". I don't know if it's bad or not.

You tried booting from the cd to clean install on your second partition rather than floppy as win2k doesnt support dos.
If your cdrom doesnt support booting, create the boot floppies from the win2k cd.

I have win 98 se and win 2K on my machine. I just installed it from windows and then guide it to the partiton you want it installed on. If it doesn't start when you put it in the tray, just open the disk in My Computer and run the setup manually.

A few things...

First, there are Windows versions and DOS versions of the setup file on the CD. Go to the i386 folder (I think) to run in DOS. If not there... just browse the CD to find it.

Second, have you tried cleaning the CD? Perhaps some dust, dirt, fingerprints or a scratch is keeping that file from being read. Copy the install folder to your hard drive and install from there if need be.
