Can't get to BIOS/setup

Comment:
I recently removed Win NT 4.0 (SP5) from a Compaq Armada 7730MT laptop by booting up with a Win '98 start-up disk, did a DELTREE, FDISK, Format sys c: and did a clean install of Win '98 and then installed Win '98SE right after that.
Ever since then the laptop doesn't give me any way to get into the BIOS upon boot-up. When NT was installed I could press the F10 button to enter setup. Now no matter what button I press (even repeatedly) during bootup it goes right to the Win '98 splash screen and right in to Windows. I've tried booting with the Win '98SE start-up disk I created during install to see if that would make a difference but it didn't.

can you elaborate just a little on what you mean by "toggling" the delete key? You mean pressing it repeatedly??

Looks like you wiped out the special Compaq bios setup partition. Do some looking at Compaq support for info on this, and how to get the setup progs and compaq diagnostics to use with bootable floppies.

You need to get in touch with compaq there is a program for that you can not enter bios without it. Just went through this problem with a friend of mine.

definitly you wiped a special software that normally give you on the screen at start up the message 'F-10 run Bios'. you need to go to compaq/support and look for the Softpaq for your computer.
