I just installed Win98SE and I can't get rid of that stupid Welcome to Windows/Tour screen that pops up everytime I reboot. I tried unchecking the "open every time windows starts" box but the bloody thing keeps popping up upon reboot. I searched the registry for "welcome.exe" which is the file I know Windows is launching from c:\windows every time I start up, but I didn't find anything. Can someone tell me how how to get rid of this annoyance (without just deleting welcome.exe)?. I want to be able to get it out of the registry or wherever it is buried. Thanks.

Msconfig? Startup Folder?

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

Never known that happen.

A couple more ideas. Try double clicking welcome.exe and then unticking the splash screen when it arrives. Reboot and see if this helps.

If not try renaming welcome.exe to welcome.ex- (that way it can be restored if need be).
