I picked up an old Acer from my father-in-law with a V55LA-2 Motherboard. Now, I need to get into the bios which uses the CTRL-ALT-ESC combo to get in, it says so right on the screen. Using two keyboards several times, I haven't been able to get into the bios. Both keyboards work and all keys on the keyboard work as I tested them within Windows. So both the keyboards and the keyboard port seem to function but I still can't CTRL-ALT-ESC my way into the BIOS no matter how many times I mash the keys and no matter what combination I do it in. I've also tried other keys like CTRL-ALT-S which some other brands use but nothing.
Hair rapidly falling out. Please help.

You can access the BIOS Setup Utility by pressing CTRL+ALT+ESC as the system is booting. At the bottom of the second start up screen you should see "To enter setup, press CTRL_ALT_ESC".
If the system displays the Acer Splash Screen, once you hear the beep, you should begin pressing CTRL+ALT+ESC.You may need to press CTRL+ALT+ESC continuously until you access the BIOS setup screen.
If this does not work, I am sorry as I know no other way...~smile~

Yep, tried all that too. Nothing. Its as if the computer we're ignoring my request. Anything else anyone?

Here are some other alternatives:
Press Tab during boot
Press Del during boot
Press Esc during boot
Press F1 during boot
Press F2 during boot
Press F10 when a square appears in top RH corner of screen
Press Ins during boot
Shift Ctrl Alt + Num Pad del
Ctrl Alt ?
Ctrl Esc
Ctrl Ins
Press reset twice
Ctrl Alt Enter
Ctrl Alt Esc
Ctrl Alt +
Ctrl Alt S
Ctrl Alt Ins
Ctrl S
Ctrl Shift Esc

I have to reset my CMOS because my password got lost. I looked on my mobo and there is no CMOS battery. I have looked everywhere and have no clue where my CMOS Jumper is. Someone told me it was around the battery. So what do I do?

Thanks for your help fellows, but none of the suggestions or key combinations seems to work. Very strange, as I said that I know the keyboards works. Thats Acer for you I guess.

Problem solved! Turns out there was password security switch that was turned on. I turned it off and was able to get into the BIOS. Strange though that I had thought of this but dismissed it since no "enter password" message appeared. From that I assumed the password feature was already disabled but I assumed wrong. Then again, you know what they say about people that "assume" ;)
