i can't get the name of the computer and cause can't send message through LAN between users. I'm using winpopup to send message.
i can't get into the control panel because my collegue fool me by restrict me to see the control panel and when i go to safe mode it prompt ' it is restricted by the admin'what should i do?
hope you all can help me.

Go to the DOS prompt and type: winipcfg
When the IP information pops up click on the button that says "More Info" and check what the Host name is - that is your computer name.

Go to regedit.com if you want to remove those restrictions....they should have info on where in the registry those keys are, and, assuming you have access to regedit, you can remove them

they fool me and don't tell me where reg is and don't provide any information. i'm stuck now without my control panel.
any1 could help?

Do you have policy editor installed on your computer ?
The file name is poledit.exe
If you can open this program, then you may be able to get your access back to control panel.
The help file will tell you how.
Good luck !

Under windows!!!
your reg is under start-run, then you type "regedit". Presto Changeo you're in!Like in response 1 goto start-run type in "winipcfg" this will bring up info needed!
or
goto start-find type in "*.cpl" this will bring up everything under your control panel...........good luck!!!!

Policy Editor can be found on the Win95 CD
in ADMIN \ APPTOOLS \ POLEDIT
1. Copy the POLEDIT folder to your hard drive
2. Run poledit.exe from within the Poledit folder
3. Open admin.adm if applicable OR go straight to File - open registry
4. Click Local User
5. Click Control Panel
6. Click Display and if it is ticked - then
uncheck Restrict Display Control PanelIf this doesn't work, then the restrictions must have been set remotely and the administrator will have to change it again.
Good luck !

Yes - from the Microsoft site.
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q135/3/15.asp
The download you want is called policy.exe and is about half way down the page.
Good luck !
